LIKES vs DISLIKES

Is there really a reason to why we have them?
Have you ever liked of disliked a videos just because or is there a real reason as to why you would like or dislike? I'm asking because we recently ran across issue but we uploaded a video and we got 30 for dislikes the first few hours. Or maybe there's somebody hating on the things good we do?
